Catalyst for Effective Collaboration

For Our City Page is working on bringing various groups from the faith-based community, the business community and the service community together to look at major hot topic issues in the community and to bring to the table resources to address those issues.

The faith-based community has been involved in good programs but has not been brought ‘together’ to impact an issue. The business community is constantly asked to provide dollars or in-kind resources or both to help with fund raising efforts and the service community is constantly being asked to work through various programs where often they do not have the needed work force resources or the finances to adequately address an issue.

In Page For Our City, we are attempting to bring the various groups to the table. The reality concerning duplication of efforts and/or the realization of the "potential" to bring more resources to bear is hitting most of the participants. The real key is to DELIVER!”

In our last meeting, we had many of the key people from the various entities: City Council; Circle of Page; Emergency Preparedness organizers. Etc. We see some progress being made as we continue to dialog. We believe that efforts have resulted in more volunteer workers for the Circle of Page and we will have a renewed emphasis to improve on this.

We are pursuing a citywide preparedness fair sponsored by For Our City in the spring the Mayor’s office and Chamber of Commerce will work with the LDS church, which recently put together a daylong preparedness fair for the community. We are looking at teaming to provide budget counseling and training and because of several sidebars; we are looking at more aggressive partnering between the school and city concerning grants for youth facilities and potential affordable housing.

For our City can be the catalyst to light the fire and once that happens, it should go!
