About Tamar Shindel

Tamar Shindel is the director of For Our City- Sedona. A third generation Phoenician, Tamar received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Northern Arizona University after spending a year abroad in New Zealand where she studied New Zealand art and architecture and children’s literature.

Upon graduating, Tamar returned to the valley to accept a teaching position with a middle school in the west valley. During her four years of teaching, Tamar developed the art standards for the district as well as developed and implemented a Discipline Based Art Education curriculum. Tamar has also taught through the Scottsdale Center for the Arts and The Museum of Northern Arizona.

Upon resigning from teaching, Tamar returned to Flagstaff to pursue a career in the arts and is currently represented by Art One Gallery of Scottsdale. Tamar initiated the For Our City model in both Flagstaff and Page prior to Robert Candelaria’s nomination and acceptance as Director of Page. Returning to the valley, Tamar is currently in pursuit of a masters in Professional Counseling with an Expressive Arts emphasis through Ottawa University. In addition, she is an entrepreneur of Toe Blossoms.
