A little history…
years ago CARE INC was invited by Hugh Hallman, Mayor of the City of Tempe, to join the "Mayor's Run" as part of a fund-raising and awareness initiative started in Tempe. The idea is simple - recruit runners to raise funds for your organization and participate in the PF Chang's half or full marathon. A certain percentage of raised funds are matched by businesses that help to sponsor the Mayor and the runners, plus the charities raise additional funds with extremely low overhead.
Great idea, right!
But wait, there is more… CARE INC is expanding this program.
Here's how it works:
- There is a registration fee of $30 that will go towards a TEAM CARE INC training shirt, hat, training aides and access to special offers from our sponsor and partner organizations.
- Each quarter TEAM CARE INC will participate in a local charity run/walk helping to raise funds for our partner programs that are active in the social service community.
- For each race, each runner will be responsible for paying their race registration fee for the charity in which we are participating.
- The race lengths will increase each quarter so that come January, we will be better positioned and trained to take full advantage of the Mayor's Run opportunity. Race length will be as follows: 2nd quarter - 5K, 3rd quarter – 5K/10K, 4th quarter – 10K/15K, and 1st quarter - 1/2 or full marathon
