For Our City - Mesa Breakfast August 23, 2011

Dear Faith Community Leader,

Please accept our invitation to attend the Mayor’s “Call to Faith Leaders” For Our City Breakfast, sponsored by CARE INC, and the businesses and faith-based organizations of Mesa. The purpose of the event is to inform and educate on the privilege, responsibility, and opportunities for the faith community to serve and make a difference.

The event will be held Tuesday, August 23 at the City of Mesa Utilities Community Room, 640 N. Mesa Drive from 8 to 9:30 am (parking map attached). The doors will open at 7:30 am. You will enjoy breakfast and a program focused on sharing new opportunities to become more involved in service as leaders of Mesa.

After the event you will have an opportunity to continue building relationships with fellow leaders, while perusing information tables regarding community volunteer agencies and opportunities.

We believe that Mesa has a unique opportunity to lead the way in engaging the faith community to walk in a collaborative purpose and explore what we can do better together.

For questions and to RSVP, please contact Charlotte McDermott at 480-644-5294 or email charlotte.mcdermott@mesaaz.gov.

Thank you for your faithful service.

The Beginning...

"For Our City - Mesa" was announced at the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast with Mayor Smith.

During the Breakfast, Jon McHatton stated, In 2005, CARE INC, a Civic nonprofit organization established For Our City with Mayor Hugh Hallman in Tempe.  For Our City is an opportunity for leaders of faith to collaborate with other municipal and community leaders, for sustainable solutions to the challenging needs of the people of Mesa. It’s about people helping people through innovative ideas that engage and empower people to put feet to their faith through service, increasing volunteerism, celebrating the great things that are established in Mesa and looking for new ways to identify new and duplicated resources and efforts.

For Our City is directed by the passion of the Mayor and agreement of a host committee to organize events that promote dialogue of “Table Talk” and then take the talk from the table to the street.

For Our City provides a safe place where faith is honored and manifested through common purpose that “God Loves People.”  I ask that you consider joining with Mayor Scott on this worthwhile journey seeking what we can do better together than separate.  Thank you and I look forward to serving with you, as Mayor Smith says, “Building a better Mesa!”

Councilmember Dina Higgins, reiterated her anticipation for working with the growing family of best practices in the For Our City family of communities.
